Mathieu Lavoie is an award winning composer, entrepreneur and professor. 

Avid fan of fiction, zombie-runs, multi-instrumentalist and gifted polymath, he is an intuitive creator with a deep knowledge of narrative structures and cooking on BBQs. His parents convinced him to take piano and flute lessons at a young age in exchange for candy and chocolate bars, which proved to be a great investment. Mat, as his friends call him, has had a long-standing love for geek culture since his early days playing Pac-Mac, role-playing games, growing first facial hairs and jamming with his teenage heavy-metal band. 

He is best known for his bad-ass visceral and orchestral representation of the Forgotten Realms in Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance (Wizards of the Coast), his far-out epic Star Trek Fleet Command score or his light-hearted funky-fusion soundtrack from couch-gaming cult classic Ultimate Chicken Horse (Clever Endeavour Games).

In 2013, he co-founded Vibe Avenue, a one-in-a-kind music & sound studio for games with his long-time friend and super-smart creative partner FX Dupas. Their innovative hub quickly became a well known reference for getting sonic quality in gaming. Both specialists of interactive music systems, they work as a prolific duo and have been involved in building the musical and audio identities of many fascinating games such as Convergence: A League of Legends Story, Tribes of Midgard, Bloodroots, Oddmar and Stories: The Path of Destinies.

Passionate about knowledge sharing and innovation, Mat is a Tenured Professor at  Université du Québec à Montréal where he teaches composition for films and video games. Lastly, he is the father of two tireless little girls that force him to listen to excessive quantities of Disney songs.
